About Perfect Potion

Perfect Potion traces its origins to a need observed by a dedicated and innovative aromatherapist, Salvatore Battaglia for quality aromatherapy products.

Founders of Perfect Potion, Salvatore Battaglia and Carolyn Stubbin are both qualified aromatherapists, naturopaths and acupuncturists.

Salvatore is widely recognised for his experience and knowledge in aromatherapy. His book, The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy, is now an internationally acclaimed best selling text book for aromatherapists and is used by many natural therapies colleges and aromatherapy training institutions around the world.

Perfect Potion is the first Australian company to have obtained certified natural cosmetics (BDIH) status from Europe for the majority of our products. The majority of the essential oils that Perfect Potion's  offer are certified organic  and our products are all made to the strictest manufacturing standards of the Therapeutic Goods Administration Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Perfect Potion believes all animals should be treated with love and kindness. To assure you of our commitment, all Perfect Potion products are accredited with Choose Cruelty Free.

BDIH

BDIH is the Association of German Industries and Trading Firms for pharmaceuticals, health care products, food supplements and personal hygiene products. The Association, located in Mannheim, Germany, has organised over 440 producers and distributors of:

  • Cosmetics and Natural Cosmetics
  • Food Supplements
  • Nutritional Foods
  • Over-the-counter Medications
  • Medical Devices

In 1996, working together with leading natural cosmetics producers, the BDIH developed comprehensive guidelines for certified natural cosmetics, keeping in mind the expectations of consumers. On the basis of these guidelines, an independent institute has tested more than 2.000 products for their contents and production methods.

Certified Organic

The quality of the essential oils is of utmost importance to practice aromatherapy effectively. Our commitment begins by sourcing the finest quality certified organic essential oils, herbal extracts, floral waters, vegetable oils and waxes and other plant based ingredients. Certified organic oils are produced from plants that are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilizers or GMO’s. Certified organic products are not only better for your health and wellbeing, they are better for the environment.

Perfect Potion is pleased to offer you a range of the finest quality ACO (Australian Certified Organic) essential oils that have been sourced by local and international farmers.

Minimum of 95% of skincare ingredients must be certified organic

A minimum of 95% of all ingredients (excluding water and salt) of a product are to come from certified organic or certified wildharvest sources.

No animal testing

No animal testing is carried out.

Mineral ingredients

Minerals from natural sources are permitted except for silicones and petroleum products.

Ingredient extraction and processing limited

Extraction and production processes of raw ingredients are limited and strictly specified.

Synthetic and petroleum ingredients rejected

Synthetic colouring agents, dyes and fragrances, silicones, paraffin and other petroleum products are rejected.

Natural preservatives

Where a preservative is required for the safety and/or stability of a product, only preservatives derived from natural sources are to be used.

How can I be sure that it is genuine?

The only way you can be sure you are purchasing genuine organic products is to look for the ACO certification logo. When you see the certification number and logo you know that there is a seamless chain of information following every step in the life of the product – from the farm to you.

Organic certification bodies such as ACO have strict regulations and rigorous site audits to ensure we are supplying consistent quality certified organic oils at all times. ACO also maintains conformance with all leading organic standards across the world.

Why does it cost more sometimes?

Organic certified essential oils can be more expensive, however this represents the true cost of growing high quality, chemical free products. Organic farming is often done on a much smaller scale and utilises farm management practices which do not harm the environment and wildlife.

COSMOS Certification

Let’s face it; choosing truly natural and organic cosmetic products is getting harder these days. It’s become nearly impossible to understand skin care labels and ingredients lists. Furthermore, with the marketing power behind big name companies, how can you know which products are actually natural and organic and which are just plain green washed?

An international standard is making it easier to understand and trust the brands we turn to. COSMOS is an internationally recognised, harmonised standard for organic and natural cosmetics which was developed to address the needs of consumers, the industry and the environment. COSMOS was founded in 2010 by leading European standards organisations and is paving the way for manufacturers and consumers alike to purchase and promote certified natural and organic products around the world.

As you know, in an effort to ease the research and purchase process for our customers, Perfect Potion became the first Australian company with certified natural status through the German standard, BDIH. This standard, which is a founding COSMOS member, ensures raw materials are natural and organically grown and products are manufactured according to strict environmental guidelines.

As a consumer, you have come to know the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) logo as a trustworthy indicator of good products. These two associations have had a strong, positive impact in providing consumers a sense of security when shopping for skin care; however they are country specific and are not internationally known.

Perfect Potion are proud to be working with Australian Certified Organic (ACO) to migrate all BDIH and ACO certifications to COSMOS Natural and COSMOS Organic. We are very excited to make this change not only because COSMOS shares Perfect Potion’s beliefs and goals for the environment, animal cruelty and the communities we live in, but also to make life easier for conscious consumers.
